“There are not more than five musical notes, yet the combinations of these five give rise to more melodies than can ever be heard. There are not more than five primary colors, yet in combinations they produce more hues than can ever been seen. There are not more than five cardinal tastes, yet combinations of them yield more flavors than can ever be tasted.”      -sun tsu, The art of war

An adage that simply means unity in diversity. The philosophy that lurks behind the foundation of Los Cantantes

In 2010, a group of people with diverse background, culture, and personalities converged to outlive their passion and love for music. Hence, Coro Comparza (Choir Ensemble) was established. The group was the brainchild of Mr. Jandel Cabasura, Mr. Isdras Dahinog, and Mr. Barret Oliver Richards. The group is composed of college students from different  universities and young professionals in different areas who are driven by their passion and love for music and by their goal to promote choral music in the modern-day realm.

During the launching concert in February 2011, the name Coro Comparza was changed to La Comparza and in 2013, La Comparza was changed to its present name Los Cantantes.

Los Cantantes has become an ally of non- profit organizations by helping them raise funds through conducting concerts –for- a- cause. Hence, it has carved its own legacy in the field of choral singing in Central Visayas. In 2014, the group was hailed Champion in the 2ND Sinulog Choral Competition- a prestigious choral competition in Cebu, and in 2015 Second Place. But, it was never a bed-of-all-roses journey for the group. There were multiple of times when the group was about to crumble. There was also a time when what fueled the group seemed to be smothered and overtaken by the members` individual priorities. Nevertheless, it was in those times that they started to realize that their passion for choral music was more sinewy than their patented interests.

Today, the group is continuously growing and promoting choral music among the youth. It has also continued to be an ally of the non-profit organizations.

It was never the members` similarities that made the group grow stronger, but it was the understanding and acceptance of their differences and their passion and goal that made the group withstand the tests of time.
